Yongli Li is a tenure track Assistant Professor (junior professor equivalent) of Chinese Studies at the College of the Holy Cross in Massachusetts, U.S.. During the 2023-2024 academic year, she also holds a visiting assistant professor position at the Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf.
Dr. Li specializes in Chinese film history, urban cinema, and media industry. Her main research interests focus on urban representation in Chinese film and media productions, and overseas Chinese film distribution. She has published in academic journals, such as Global Storytelling: Journal of Digital and Moving Images, Chinese Literature Today, and contributed book chapters in edited volumes, including From Networks to Netflix: A Guide to Changing Channels, and Film Marketing into the Twenty-First Century. In addition, she has presented her projects at international conferences, including the Society of the Cinema and Media Studies, Deutsche Vereinigung für Chinastudien, etc.
